October 14 update — real-terrain maps, clearer duel rules, new plans
· Kriegsspiel by Honey Badger
Decide on the real ground
- All 30 battle maps are redrawn from real elevation data: hillshade and contours, with units and place names at their real positions.
- The button at the top right of a map switches to 2016 satellite imagery. Relief is the default because modern imagery shows towns and dams built after the battles.
- Decisions about a place can be made on the map: tap candidate point A, B or C.
- Maps now carry a scale bar, north arrow and grid.
Duel rules v2
- No randomness: the same two decisions in the same situation always give the same result.
- Phases carry over: holding the initiative or wearing the other side down moves the next phase's score by a point.
- The mission decides first; remaining combat power only settles a contested mission.
- Every phase shows why it came out as it did. Details are in Duel rules.
- Duel scenarios are now alternative versions of real battles (Dabudong, Hyeon-ri, Chuncheon–Hongcheon, Krynky, Bilohorivka, Fallujah); the result screen compares your game with what really happened.
- Ranked play adds evening windows for the UK and US, shown in your local time.
Battle Analysis
- Every battle now has an in-depth part 2: terrain in detail, an hour-by-hour course, each decision point, doctrine and source criticism.
- Position errors found while drawing the maps (hill directions, distances) were corrected in 17 battle columns.
Plans
- Free, Battle Pack (one war, one-time), Individual Plus (monthly) and Group Beta (instructors, monthly). Prices are proposals we are testing before launch.
- Instructor Mode can be tried free once every 30 days with up to 6 trainees.
- Everything stays open during the beta.
- Terms and Privacy Policy updated for the new plans and features (effective 14 October).
