Terrain map Your role You command a friendly special forces company: terminal assault, blocking element, aircraft denial team, refuel team and reserve/evacuation team, about 120 in all, flying in on four transports. The opponents are the armed captors holding the hostages and the fictional Grey force guard company that shelters them at the airfield.
Higher commander's intent Higher commander's intent: rescue the civilian hostages held in the old terminal at Solmoru and bring them home. Keep the time on the ground under an hour. Limit fighting with the Grey force to what the mission needs, and do not widen the operation beyond the airfield.
Situation Enemy: eight to ten armed captors hold the hostages in the old terminal hall and an adjacent building. A Grey guard company, about thirty strong, is in barracks east of the terminal with a post on the tower roof. Five Grey attack helicopters stand on the apron. A company with armoured vehicles is in the town about 4 km north. Friendly: a command aircraft relays overhead; a friendly forward strip is two hours' flying away. Civil: 63 hostages, one of them reportedly held apart in a house in the town.
Mission The SF company lands at Solmoru airfield at 0110 on D-day, rescues the hostages in the old terminal, and is airborne with them by 0210.
