Fog Ridge

2026-10 · Fictional: unnamed ridge (412) and the Solgol valley · Small-unit actions · Fictional situation

Your role

You lead 2nd Squad, 1st Platoon: eight soldiers and a drone operator attached from platoon, ten in all. The opponent is the Grey force, a fictional light infantry enemy.

Higher commander's intent

Company commander's intent: tell company where the enemy is in the Solgol valley by 0700 so the defensive plan can be refined. Fighting is not the purpose. Do not cross the recon limit.

Situation

Enemy: Grey force light infantry infiltration teams (2–4 strong) have probed the gaps in front of the company for the last two nights. Assessed to have small recon drones, mortars and a jamming capability. Friendly: the company is improving its defensive position about 2 km west of the unnamed ridge. 1st Platoon's outpost is the start and return point. Weather: thick fog, visibility 50–100 m, expected to lift around 0700.

Mission

2nd Squad leaves the outpost at 0510, crosses the unnamed ridge (412), determines whether the enemy is active at V1, V2 and V3 in the Solgol valley, and reports to company by 0700.
